Every jurisdiction in this catalog has entries whose figures move when a bill passes, whose act takes effect on a later date, or whose program is repealed while its agency keeps advertising it. This page watches each jurisdiction's law, follows a bill through its own jurisdiction's process where its stages are recorded, and names the catalog entries each instrument touches.
4 instruments in Wisconsin. Tracked across 51 jurisdictions. Every other jurisdiction on the board is still watched by hand.
A bill that died is listed only where a guide, an agency, or a news story has described it as current law. That is the failure that puts a number in front of a veteran which no assessor, registrar, or school will honor.
▲Expands benefitsSubtracts Guard and reserve drill and training pay from Wisconsin taxable income.
For taxable years beginning after December 31, 2025, subtracts basic pay received under 37 USC 204(a)(2) by a National Guard or reserve component member and inactive-duty training compensation under 37 USC 206 or 206a received by a reserve component member, to the extent not already subtracted. Enacted April 8, 2026. The act created it as Wis. Stat. 71.05(6)(b)57., a number already used for financial exploitation losses, and the published statutes print it as 57m. The Department of Revenue military FAQ still tells filers to leave inactive duty training pay out of the subtraction.

▲Expands benefitsCuts the residency periods for the Wisconsin GI Bill remissions and grant from five years to three.

Enacted April 2, 2026.
An obsolete tax provisions act repeals Wis. Stat. 71.07(6m), the armed forces member credit closed to new claims after 2020, effective January 1, 2027, and 71.07(6n), the veteran employment credit closed after 2012, effective January 1, 2034. Enacted March 27, 2026. Until then the statutes keep printing both with their text intact.
▲▼Expands and restrictsAdds a retirement subtraction at 67, but a claimant loses every 71.07 credit, the veterans property tax credit included.
For taxable years beginning after December 31, 2024, an individual of sixty-seven or older may subtract up to $24,000 of retirement plan and IRA distributions, $48,000 for a joint return where both spouses are sixty-seven, but subdivision 54m.d. bars anyone who claims it from claiming any credit listed under 71.07 for the same year. That includes the uncapped veterans and surviving spouses property tax credit in 71.07(6e). The budget act was enacted July 3, 2025.
