Thresholds
| Gate | Rule |
|---|---|
| A compensable service-connected disability | One qualifying path is certification of a compensable service-connected disability, which means a rating that pays compensation and therefore begins at 10 percent. No higher percentage is required for the $6,000 exemption. |
| Wartime service or an expeditionary or campaign medal | The other service path is honorable service during World War I, World War II, Korea, or Vietnam, or overseas service for which an Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal or other authorized campaign medal was awarded. No rating is involved in that path, so the rating filter never hides this benefit. |
| Three years of Wyoming residency | The veteran has to be a current Wyoming resident and to have lived in the state for three years. The exemption may be taken against the primary residence or against motor vehicle registration fees. |
