What the site says. The Assessor's FAQ, "What is Special Assessment Level?": "Residential property owner(s) receiving the homestead exemption who are 65 years old or older and earn a combined adjusted gross income for the year 2013 of $70,484 or less per year can freeze the assessed value of their homestead." It names no veteran route to the freeze, and no page or form on the site (home, Forms / Links, FAQ, Taxes / Appeals, Contact) mentions the disabled veteran homestead exemptions. The FAQ's income figure is from 2013. What the State gives. Louisiana's constitution adds homestead exemption tiers for veterans with a service-connected disability rating of 50% or more ($2,500 more of assessed value at 50%, $4,500 more at 70%, and the whole remaining assessed value at 100% or unemployability; article VII, section 21), and a special assessment level (freeze) for veterans rated 50% or more, with an income cap (article VII, section 18). The tiers, the freeze and the papers to bring (the VA award letter and the LDVA Form A25 from the parish veterans service office) are in the State entries. File with the Assessor. Where.
