Ventura County Parks: Free Campsites for Distinguished Veterans

Ventura County Parks waives the campsite fee for members of its Distinguished Veteran program, and from December 1, 2026 members can book online with the waiver applied automatically. New members apply through the Parks reservation site's Memberships link.

The Ventura County Parks Department waives the camp site fee for approved members of its Distinguished Veteran (DV) program. From December 1, 2026. Reservations open online up to 180 days ahead, and a DV member's account carries a DV Membership that waives the camp site fee automatically. Existing approved members are already set up; new members request the membership through the Memberships link on the reservation site. Who qualifies. The Parks notice does not say. The name follows the State's Distinguished Veteran Pass, which goes to a California resident veteran with a 50% or higher wartime service-connected rating, a former prisoner of war, or a Medal of Honor recipient; see the California entry. Ask the Parks Department, 800 South Victoria Avenue, Ventura, what proof it takes before booking.
