Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The ordinance. Ordinance Code section 5.08.040 (Ord. 1081, 1980; Ord. 600, 1970): the Sheriff issues the itinerant vendor permit "for which he/she shall collect a fee of twenty-five dollars for each calendar year ... A soldier, sailor or marine who has received from the United States of America an honorable discharge or release from active duty under honorable conditions and who wishes to become an itinerant vendor is exempt from the fees required by this chapter; provided, however, that he/she is subject to all of the other provisions of this chapter and must obtain the permit provided for in this chapter." Who needs the permit. An itinerant vendor is anyone with no established place of business in the county who sells goods door to door or from a temporary stand, or takes orders for later delivery, in the unincorporated county (section 5.08.010). The application to the Sheriff gives the vehicles used, a recent photograph, fingerprints and the record of arrests and convictions; where a fingerprint check is needed its cost is added to the fee, and the ordinance does not say whether the exemption covers it. The City of Sonora issues its own. The exemption follows Business and Professions Code 16102 (see the California entry); bring the DD-214.
