Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

Every Ohio commission must arrange regular transport to the VA medical centres serving the county (Revised Code 5901.03(H); see the Ohio entry). Summit County's commission runs its own vehicles, Monday to Friday except federal holidays, to and from VA medical facilities and the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky, and in 2026 added the VA's new imaging and infusion centre at 3838 Cascades Boulevard, Kent. The Cleveland run. The bus reaches the Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center by 8 a.m. and leaves at 12:30 p.m., so ask the VA for a morning appointment. Pickups are at the commission's office by 6:15 a.m., the Akron VA Clinic by 6:30 a.m. and the Metro Transit Center by 6:45 a.m., or by special arrangement. Riders in Twinsburg, Macedonia and Reminderville are picked up at a set place on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Booking. Call 330-643-2830, use the online request form or stop in, and bring proof of the appointment. Seats are limited and a veteran with an appointment or an emergency comes first; a caregiver may ride when needed. The vehicles cannot carry a power wheelchair, so ask for special accommodation, and they are not ambulances. A rider who arrives impaired by alcohol or drugs is turned away. No discharge or rating test is stated for the rides beyond being a Summit County veteran with a VA appointment.
