Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

Suffolk County Code 948-37, from Resolution 459-2007 as amended by Resolution 434-2022, waives the full application fee on Suffolk County civil service exams for a Suffolk resident who is: a veteran, with a DD-214 and proof of Suffolk residence, or the County's resident veteran ID card; or on active duty in the armed forces, or a current member of the reserves or National Guard, with a Department of Defense ID card and proof of residence. Every County exam announcement that carries a fee must say that the waiver exists. The Code sets no discharge test for the veteran waiver and no limit on the number of exams. The veterans' credits on the exam score are the State's; see the New York entry on civil service credits.
