St. Clair County Assessor: Veteran Exemptions

The St. Clair County Assessor's exemption list still says a 70% or higher rating makes a home fully tax exempt and asks for an honorable discharge; since taxable year 2023 the statute exempts the first $250,000 of equalized assessed value and asks instead for VA disability compensation. The Veterans Assistance Commission files the forms for free.

The list and the Commission both say it is $5,000 off equalized assessed value for the year of return and the year after, as section 15-167 provides.
