Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

Rockland County licenses master electricians under Chapter 250 of the Laws of Rockland County, and the Board of Electrical Examiners' rules set the fees. The amended rules in the Legislature's September 1, 2026 proceedings: each application comes with a non-refundable $300 fee (up from $250) for the examination, and "Veterans of the United States Armed Forces shall have their initial application fee waived provided the applicant submits the form DD214, showing an honorable discharge, as proof of service, will be given one point for each year of proven active service with a maximum of five points total". What it does not cover. The waiver is for the initial application; re-tests ($150) and the licence itself ($400 a year for Rockland residents and New York businesses, $500 for others) are charged as usual. Ask the Department of Consumer Protection, Weights and Measures, which serves the Board.
