Orleans County Clerk (Nadine P. Hanlon): Military Discharges
The Orleans County Clerk (Nadine P. Hanlon, Courthouse Square, 3 South Main Street, Albion, 585-589-5334) files 'military discharges' among the county's recorded documents; in 2025 the Clerk and the Veterans Service Agency were designing a joint Thank a Veteran card.

The office's own line. "The primary role of the County Clerk is that of Recording Officer, responsible for filing deeds, mortgages, leases, assignments, discharges, maps, census records, ag districts, business certificates, judgments, federal tax liens, military discharges, naturalization records, inquests, separation agreements and divorce decrees for the entire county." The office "does not supply forms for recordings or filing".
Thank a Veteran. The Legislature's committee minutes of 2025 carry the Clerk's work on a "Thank a Veteran Program": in April 2025 the Clerk "Met with Nick and Jim from Veteran's Office. Working with Tyler on finishing up the card design. This will be a joint venture between our offices"; in May the agency reported "Thank a Vet / Nadine - seals ready for pick up"; and in July 2025 "We should be good to start moving forward." The county's pages publish no Thank a Veteran programme or discount list yet; ask the Clerk or the Veterans Service Agency.
The rules. Recording a discharge and the privacy of the record are the State's; see the New York entries.
