Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The exemption is the State's, under A.R.S. 42-11111; the Arizona entry gives the tax year 2026 text and the changes House Bill 4168 makes from tax year 2027. The Navajo County Assessor decides claims in the county (928-524-4086). What the Assessor asks. Its Exemption Information sheet: "All new applicants are requested to sign an application prior to February 28th." A first-time disability applicant brings an Affidavit for Tax Exemption, "signed in front of an Assessor's office staff member"; a "Certification of Disability signed by your doctor"; for a "Disabled Veteran, VA letter stating % disabled"; proof of income, the 2025 Arizona return showing Arizona adjusted gross income or every income statement for all occupants; and a copy of the car registrations. "If signature occurs after February 28th and prior to setting of tax rates a Request for Redemption of waiver must be submitted to the Navajo County Board of Supervisors for their approval." A widow or widower whose spouse was an Arizona resident applies the same way, with the death certificate. The 2026 limits on the sheet. Household income of $39,865, or $47,826 with a child under 18 or a disabled child at home, and "2026 assessed value limit does not exceed $36,454 for all properties owned in Arizona (in most cases full cash value is $364,540 or less)". The sheet labels the first income limit "2024" but means 2025 income, as its own text says. "Exemption may not fully eliminate property tax liability. On most homes it is a reduction in the taxes." Where to sign. The county complex in Holbrook, weekdays 8 to 5; the Show Low office, 600 N 9th Place, Tuesdays; the Mogollon Complex and the Winslow Health Department on the second Tuesday; and, on set February dates, the Show Low, Pinetop/Lakeside, Silver Creek (Snowflake), Cedar Hills, Rim Country and Winslow senior centres.
