Nassau County Contracts: Six Percent Goal for Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Businesses

Since Local Law 2 of 2016, every Nassau County department aims for at least six percent of County contracts to go to businesses certified by the State as service-disabled veteran-owned.

Also called: SDVOB, service-disabled veteran-owned business, contracts, Title 82, procurement.

For: Veteran or service member.

Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

Local Law 2 of 2016, passed April 25 and approved April 27, 2016, added Title 82 to the Miscellaneous Laws of Nassau County. Every County department, division, board, commission and bureau, Nassau Community College and boards most of whose members the County Executive appoints must make good faith efforts to give businesses certified under the State's Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Business Act greater participation in County contracts, aiming for at least six percent, and keep records of those efforts. It is a goal, not a set-aside. Certification is the State's; see the New York entry on service-disabled veteran-owned business certification.
