Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The exclusion is the State's, under G.S. 105-277.1C; see the North Carolina entry. Nash County's Tax Exemptions page: "Honorably discharged disabled veterans or their unmarried surviving spouses may be eligible for a reduction in property tax. The disabled veteran must be 100% totally and permanently disabled due to a service-related injury. There is no age or income limitation on this program. This program excludes up to the first $45,000 of the assessed value of the permanent residence of an honorably discharged veteran who has a total and permanent disability that is service-related or who received benefits for specially adapted housing under 38 U.S.C. 2101." "Once approved for the Disabled Veteran Exclusion, you do not need to reapply unless your disability or benefit status has changed." The page carries the Certification for Disabled Veteran's Property Tax Exclusion. How and when. Call 252-459-1222 for an application, use the form on the listing abstract, or download it; the page's dates are still those of the 2025 tax year ("The deadline for filing exemption applications for tax year 2025 is June 1, 2025"), and the statute's deadline is June 1 each year. Nash County Tax Department, 120 W. Washington Street, Suite 2058, Nashville, NC 27856. Unmarried joint owners each apply. Where the page is narrower than the law. "100% totally and permanently disabled" reads as a 100% schedular rating; the statute asks for a total and permanent service-connected disability, which a total rating through unemployability can meet. See the North Carolina entry.
