Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The exemption is the State's, under La. Const. art. VII, section 21, as the State entries explain. The Iberia Parish Assessor, Ashlie M. Spiker, publishes the routes and documents on its own FAQ. The routes. The Disabled Veterans Freeze: the owner of the home must have a service-connected disability with a 50 percent or higher disability rating, and adjusted gross income combined for all owners cannot exceed $100,000. Required documents: Disability Awards Letter, driver's license or birth certificate, and the federal tax return. The Disabled Veterans Additional Homestead Exemption: the owner must be a veteran with a 100 percent service-connected disability rating, or the surviving spouse of such a veteran. Required documents: Disability Awards Letter, driver's license or birth certificate. A further special assessment level covers the unmarried surviving spouse of a person who died while on active duty or as a law enforcement or fire protection officer, where the property was owned and occupied by the deceased at death. The homestead itself. A homestead exemption in Louisiana exempts the first $75,000 of market value on a primary residence; the assessor reckons that is roughly $583 of annual property tax savings in Iberia Parish.
