For: Veteran or service member, spouse.

Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

Fulton County's Veterans Preference Policy: the county "will give preference to applicants who are veterans of the United States Armed Forces ... through the extension of an invitation to interview, provided that the veteran meets all of the knowledge, skills, and eligibility requirements of the job." Limits. The preference applies to initial appointment only; an employee who was hired with it competes equally for transfers and promotions. The policy promises an interview, not a job. How to claim it. Mark veteran or disabled veteran status on the county employment application and attach the DD-214. The policy names no rating or discharge test beyond being a veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces. The county's page also notes that veterans and eligible spouses get priority of service in its Department of Labor funded job training programmes.
