Craven County Tax Department: Disabled Veteran Exclusion
How Craven County runs the State's $45,000 disabled veteran homestead exclusion: a one-time AV-9 with the State's NCDVA-9 by June 1. The page prints the statute in full, but its own requirements ask for an honorably discharged veteran and describe the surviving spouse as the widow of any honorably discharged veteran, and its form links are labelled 2022 and 2024.
Also called: property tax, homestead exclusion, disabled veteran exclusion, 105-277.1C, AV-9, NCDVA-9, $45,000, June 1, surviving spouse, New Bern, Havelock, Cherry Point.
For: Veteran or service member, survivor.

Thresholds
| Gate | Rule |
|---|---|
| Permanent and total service-connected disability | The rating path is VA's certification of a total and permanent service-connected disability. A section 2101 adapted housing grant qualifies instead, and an unremarried surviving spouse qualifies on the veteran's routes or a service-connected death; the rating filter cannot test those. |
| Discharge honorable or under honorable conditions | The statute takes honorable or under honorable conditions; the county list says "honorably discharged". |
