Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

Clark County Human Resources adds five preference points to a veteran's overall score and ten to a disabled veteran's. The preference applies only to a first appointment with Clark County, except that a former employee who was laid off and is eligible for recall gets the points on open and competitive recruitments. Send a DD-214 documenting an honorable discharge with each application; online applicants must upload it for every position, or mail or deliver it to Human Resources by the closing date. A disabled veteran must also send a VA letter verifying the disability. The page names no minimum rating for the ten points. The honorable-discharge wording is the county's. A veteran with a general discharge under honorable conditions should ask Human Resources whether it qualifies before the closing date.
