Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

Code § 17-13, effective March 14, 2008 for the October 2008 grand list, gives a veteran entitled under C.G.S. 12-81(19) an additional exemption of up to $10,000 off assessed value, for qualifying income of not more than $54,800 if single or a surviving spouse or $61,500 if married, and a surviving spouse entitled under 12-81(22) an additional $10,000, for income of not more than $51,500. An application on the assessor’s form is due by the assessment date with the federal return or other income evidence; after a first approval the applicant files biennially. Cheshire’s income limits are its own, above the 12-81l amounts. Code § 17-7, Ord. Enact. 11-13-90, adopts the 12-81h exemption of a motor vehicle specially equipped for a disabled veteran at 100 percent of assessed value from the October 1, 1990 grand list, and § 17-8 the same day adopts the 12-81(21)(C) exemption of the dwelling house and lot of a veteran who received special housing assistance under Title 38. OLR’s 2023 survey recorded Cheshire as offering the 12-81g(b) exemption, three times the 12-81(20) amount for a veteran rated 100 percent, but answering no to the wartime local option the code’s § 17-13 grants, and no to the vehicle exemption § 17-7 grants. The survey is a legislative research canvass it could not verify; the code is Cheshire’s own record, read from the scan the assessor posts. No Cheshire ordinance adopting 12-81g(b) was found in the chapter.

Figures

Each figure is dated with the day it was read. A local figure moves whenever the statute or the local ordinance does, so confirm it with the office that grants it before you rely on it. Statute verified gives the day the weekly section check last found the statute standing on the legislature’s own code site; a figure without it rests on a statute the check does not read yet.
