Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The Cascade County Veterans' Treatment Court is based on the treatment court model: "an outpatient court-managed program, no less than 16 months long, which requires participants to obtain and complete treatment appropriate to their situation", with careful screening before admission and monitoring including drug testing throughout. The county's page states the mission - to reduce crime, enhance public safety, save taxpayer costs and enrich lives by facilitating sobriety, treating mental health conditions, improving social relationships and promoting lifelong stability. Eligibility, as the county's own page lists it: 18 years or older; resides within Cascade County or agrees to move into the county upon acceptance; was, or currently is, a member of the United States military, verified by a DD-214; may enter as a condition of a deferred or suspended sentence, on probation, on parole, or in some cases through pretrial diversion; must have a substance abuse, chemical dependency and/or mental health diagnosis; must plead guilty to the charged offense, with the exception of pretrial diversion; must be able to meet all program requirements; and must be treatable in the community. The program is voluntary and runs on five milestones. Referral starts with the Veterans' Treatment Court Coordinator, 8th Judicial District, 600 Central Ave, Suite 211, Great Falls, MT, phone (406) 604-7613 as the county's page lists it. The county's own 2026 minutes and agendas carry almost no other veteran business: the only mention in the year's Agenda Center files is a community centre's announcement that a WRAP training restricted to veterans would be offered on March 12, 2026.
