Veteran Help in Butler County

Butler County publishes no county veterans office and no veterans treatment court; a county veteran’s claims help comes from the Kansas Office of Veterans Services, whose Veteran Service Representatives serve from the Wichita field office and by appointment throughout the region.

Also called: veteran services, KOVS, El Dorado, claims help, no VTC, Wichita.

For: Veteran or service member.

Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

Butler County's own staff directory lists no veterans department, and the county does not appear on the Kansas Judicial Branch's Specialty Courts list, whose veterans treatment courts are in Leavenworth, Shawnee, Douglas, Johnson, Sedgwick and Wyandotte counties and which lists no specialty court of any kind in Butler County's 13th Judicial District. Nothing on the county's site read for this entry describes a county veteran programme, and this entry does not invent one. What a Butler County veteran can act on is the state's own service: the Kansas Office of Veterans Services employs Veteran Service Representatives, accredited by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and certified annually, available at no cost to help veterans understand which benefits they may be eligible for and guide them through the federal claims process. The published field-office list for the region names Wichita and Hutchinson among the Western Kansas Region's office cities and Winfield to the south; appointments are scheduled with the local Veteran Service Representative, and the office asks veterans to bring the DD 214, marriage and birth certificates, medical records, income sources and the other documents its checklist names. KOVS's main line is (785) 296-3976, at the Landon State Office Building, 900 S.W. Jackson Street, Suite 504-N, Topeka, KS 66612.
