Bryan County Business License: Occupation Tax Exemption for Disabled Veterans

In unincorporated Bryan County a wartime veteran rated 10% or more, or a peacetime veteran rated 25% or more, who claims the State's exemption from the county occupation tax must give Community Development a copy of the Certificate of State License/Tax Exemption from the Georgia Department of Veterans Service.

Also called: occupation tax, business license, disabled veteran exemption, Certificate of State License/Tax Exemption, Community Development, Pembroke, Richmond Hill, Ellabell, Black Creek, Keller.

For: Veteran or service member.

Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The exemption is the State's (see the Georgia entry on the disabled veteran occupation tax exemption). The county's business licensing page: "Occupation Tax Exemption - The following individuals/organizations may be eligible for an exemption from having to pay an occupation tax. Disabled Veterans – War-time veterans with at least a 10% disability rating or peace-time veterans with a 25% disability rating, if claiming an exemption, will need to provide a copy of your Certificate of State License/Tax Exemption. For more information visit Business Certificate of Exemption | Georgia Department of Veterans Service." How. Get the certificate from the Department of Veterans Service (a field office or its online request), then register the business with Bryan County Community Development as usual, attaching it. The exemption reaches the occupation tax, not the registration itself, and a business inside Pembroke or Richmond Hill licenses with the city.
