Broward County Parks: Free Passport for Disabled Veterans, Free or Reduced Gate Entry
Broward County gives honorably discharged veterans with a service-related disability a free five-year Parks Passport for regional park gates, and other members, veterans and Gold Star families 25% off the $30 annual passport. Its Administrative Code waives the gate fee for every honorably discharged veteran, though the fee page still lists a $2 veteran rate.
Also called: parks, Parks Passport, regional parks, gate fee, 125.029, 37.35, Gold Star, military discount, Hollywood North Beach Park.
Broward County's regional parks charge a gate fee only on weekends and county-observed holidays (including Veterans Day): $3 a car with eight or fewer people, $20 for nine or more, and $2 a car for military and veterans, from January 1, 2026. Neighbourhood parks, nature centres, natural areas, Boaters Park and specialty parks are free; Hollywood North Beach Park charges parking instead.
Disabled Veterans Parks Passport: free. An honorably discharged veteran with a service-related disability can get a free Parks Passport, good for five years from activation and renewable, which covers the gate fee for one car. The county names no minimum rating. Apply through Broward County Veterans Services: call 954-357-6622 for an appointment. It does not cover parking at Hollywood North Beach Park, special amenities or events.
Annual passport at 25% off. Active members and honorably discharged veterans of the Armed Forces, Guard and reserves, and the surviving spouse, domestic partner or parents of a deceased member, may buy the $30 annual Parks Passport at a 25% discount.
Free entry under the statute. Section 37.35(g) of the Administrative Code waives the admission fee for anyone who "present[s] information satisfactory to the Division evidencing eligibility under Section 125.029, Florida Statutes". That section covers current members, every honorably discharged veteran with or without a disability, and Gold Star spouses and parents (see the Florida entry). On the Code's words, any of them showing proof at the gate owes nothing, not the $2 military rate the fee page also lists; carry the DD-214 or ID and ask.
None of this covers concessionaires' charges, camping, rentals or special events.
