The Arizona Department of Veterans' Services operates three state veterans cemeteries: the Southern Arizona Veterans' Memorial Cemetery at Sierra Vista, the Arizona Veterans' Memorial Cemetery at Marana near Tucson, and the Arizona Veterans' Memorial Cemetery at Camp Navajo in Bellemont, near Flagstaff.
Burial is open to members of the armed forces, including National Guard members and reservists, and to veterans discharged from active duty under honorable conditions, with the usual exceptions. A spouse, an unremarried widow or widower, minor children, and in certain circumstances an unmarried adult dependent child may also be buried there.
An eligible spouse may be buried even if they predecease the veteran, so a family facing a loss before the veteran's own death does not have to look elsewhere.
There is no charge for the interment of an eligible veteran. The benefit includes the gravesite, opening and closing, a concrete liner for a casket burial, a government marker, and perpetual care. A fee applies for an eligible spouse or dependent. Confirm the current amount with the cemetery rather than relying on a figure from a guide, since it is set administratively and changes.
These are state cemeteries, separate from the federal National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix and the Prescott National Cemetery. Several tribal nations in Arizona also operate their own veterans cemeteries. A family should compare on location, because the difference in driving distance for future visits usually matters more than anything else.
There is no advance reservation of a specific grave, but ADVS accepts an application for interment in advance, and establishing eligibility early spares the family from proving it under time pressure.

A discharge under honorable conditions, or current service
The gates are membership in the armed forces including the National Guard and reserves, or discharge from active duty under honorable conditions. No disability rating is involved, so the rating filter never hides this benefit.
