Every jurisdiction in this catalog has entries whose figures move when a bill passes, whose act takes effect on a later date, or whose program is repealed while its agency keeps advertising it. This page watches each jurisdiction's law, follows a bill through its own jurisdiction's process where its stages are recorded, and names the catalog entries each instrument touches.
1 instrument in South Carolina. Tracked across 51 jurisdictions. Every other jurisdiction on the board is still watched by hand.
A bill that died is listed only where a guide, an agency, or a news story has described it as current law. That is the failure that puts a number in front of a veteran which no assessor, registrar, or school will honor.
▼Restricts benefitsRepealed the free parking at meters for disabled veterans and other plate holders.
Repeals S.C. Code 56-5-2585, which since 1976 has exempted disabled veterans and Purple Heart recipients from municipal parking meter fees when the vehicle bears a disabled veteran or Purple Heart plate. The act was signed April 6, 2026 and takes effect six months after approval. From that date the disabled veteran plates under 56-3-14940 carry no parking exemption at all, while the Purple Heart plate keeps the metered and timed parking exemption in 56-3-14930(D). The catalog had described the disabled veteran plate as never having carried free metered parking, which was wrong until this repeal.
