A proposed constitutional amendment to raise the deduction to $1,000 in tax year 2025, $1,500 in 2026, $2,000 in 2027 and $2,500 from 2028. Reported from the Senate Community and Urban Affairs Committee and referred to Senate Budget and Appropriations on June 17, 2024, it went no further and died when the session ended in January 2026.
