New Hampshire / State / 2026 Regular Session
Laws of New Hampshire 2026, chapter 11 Reconstituted the state veterans council and gave it the First for Veterans programme to run
No change to benefits Changes the membership of the state veterans council and gives it the First for Veterans programme to run; no benefit changes.
Amended RSA 110-B:89 effective July 1, 2026. The state veterans council is now 5 members appointed by the governor and council, 4 of whom must be veterans as defined by RSA 21:50 and the fifth a family member of a veteran or of a currently serving member of the armed forces, all of whom must be New Hampshire citizens, on staggered three-year terms. Paragraph II adds the duty to "administer the New Hampshire first for veterans program for the adjutant general" alongside meeting at least semi-annually to provide guidance and recommendations on the adequacy and delivery of veterans programmes, and lets the adjutant general designate a member as liaison to the state veterans advisory committee. Tracked because it is the operational counterpart to 2026 chapter 304: the same five-member council supplies five of the eleven seats on the New Hampshire first for veterans authority board under RSA 110-B:95, III and administers the programme, so the council is now the dominant voice in how the plate revenue is spent, and published descriptions of the council still give its former composition.
