North Dakota / State / 2025 Session
Ch. 343, L. 2025 (House Bill 1293) Created a burial medallion program for Guard members who qualify for no other marker
Created a new section to chapter 37-18 requiring the Department of Veterans’ Affairs to establish and administer a program providing a medallion, a small durable marker attached to an existing headstone or grave marker, for a national guard or national guard reserve member not buried in the state veterans’ cemetery who does not qualify for another medallion from the state or federal department of veterans affairs. It fills one specific gap: the Guard member who served a full career without a federalization that would earn a federal marker, buried in a family plot. Approved and filed March 14, 2025.
