Missouri / State / 103rd General Assembly, 1st Regular Session
House Bills 594 and 508 (2025) Raised the property tax credit and its income ceilings for the first time since 2008, and indexed both
Amended Mo. Rev. Stat. 135.010, 135.025 and 135.030, the senior citizens property tax credit that a 100 percent service-connected disabled veteran enters without being 65. For calendar years beginning on or after January 1, 2026 the credit is computed on up to $1,055 of rent constituting property taxes, raised from $750, or $1,550 of actual property tax, raised from $1,100. The maximum upper limit on income, frozen at $27,500, or $30,000 for a homestead owned and occupied all year, since 2008, was replaced by four figures: $38,200 single, $42,200 single owning and occupying all year, $41,000 married filing combined, and $48,000 married filing combined owning and occupying all year. The income exemption in 135.010(5) rose from $2,000 to $2,800, and from $4,000 to $5,800 for a homestead owned and occupied all year. From January 1, 2027 both sets index annually, and to different indexes: the credit maximums to the Midwest Region CPI-U and the income ceilings to the national CPI-U. Tracked because a calendar year 2026 claim is filed in 2027, so the Department of Revenue page and every secondary guide still printed $750 and $1,100 through the 2026 filing season, and because the split index means the two halves of the credit will drift apart over time.
