HB20-1190 Would have stated that the vehicle exemption does not depend on holding a disabled veteran plate

Catalog reconciledDid not pass

Died

Expands benefits Would have stated that a disabled veteran need not hold the disabled veteran plate to claim the second vehicle exemption.

Lost in appropriations, so the clarification never reached the statute and county practice varies. Neither section conditions the exemption on holding the plate. A veteran rated 50 percent or higher who cannot get a plate certified should bring the VA award letter and ask the county motor vehicle office to apply the exemption on the rating.
