Yuba County Assessor: Disabled Veterans' Property Tax Exemption

The Yuba County Assessor, 915 8th Street, Marysville (530-749-7820), takes the State's disabled veterans' exemption on BOE-261-G for a veteran rated 100% or paid at 100% for unemployability, or the unmarried surviving spouse: the basic exemption is filed once, the low-income one every year by February 15; its page leaves out blindness and the loss of use of two limbs, which the law also covers.

Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The exemption is the State's (Revenue and Taxation Code 205.5; see the California entry for the amounts, the filing dates and the change SB 296 makes from the January 1, 2027 lien date). What the Assessor's pages say. "California law provides a property tax exemption for the primary residence of a disabled veteran or an unmarried spouse of a qualifying deceased disabled veteran." Who may qualify: "US military veterans rated 100% disabled or 100% unemployable due to service connected injury or disease"; "Unmarried surviving spouses of a deceased veteran qualified for this exemption or whose death was service-connected"; and "Unmarried surviving spouses of a qualifying veteran who died on active duty due to a service-connected injury or disease." Two levels: the "Basic exemption regardless of your total annual income (one time filing)" and the "Low-income exemption based on your total household income (requires annual filing each year by February 15)". The tax relief page adds that "Both types of exemptions are adjusted annually for inflation" and that "A property owner may not have more than one exemption, such as the Homeowners' or Disabled Veterans' exemption, on the same property", and links the Board of Equalization's claim, BOE-261-G, and the Assessor's Disabled Veteran's Household Income Worksheet. What it leaves out. Section 205.5 also covers a veteran blind in both eyes or who has lost the use of two or more limbs from a service-connected cause; the pages name only the rating and unemployability. They give no dollar amounts; the California entry has them. Where. Yuba County Assessor, 915 8th Street, Marysville, CA 95901; (530) 749-7820, fax (530) 749-7824.
