Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The office. The York County Veterans Service Office is on the first floor of the courthouse, 510 N. Lincoln Avenue, York, NE 68467 (Room 110, mailing address PO Box 505, in the State's directory), phone (402) 362-4047, fax (402) 362-4735, open Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Veterans Service Officer is Nicholas (Nick) Wollenburg, with secretary Mary Beth Coffey, whom he introduced to the Board as the office's new assistant on December 9, 2025. The county's page gives only the contact details. Two counties. The State's directory (updated October 26, 2026) lists Mr. Wollenburg as Fillmore County's officer too, at 1320 G Street in Geneva, with admin assistant Shaunde Graham. York County's filed budget lists the agreement - "York County, Fillmore County, Indefinite, Veterans Service Officer" - and a county press release of August 23, 2023 explains it: signed in 2017, York employs the officer and Fillmore pays toward his salary, then $20,000 a year; he spends one day a week in Fillmore County and takes Fillmore calls from York; the York Board voted that day to ask for $25,000 and a review every three years. The Fillmore side. Fillmore County's own Veterans Services page gives the office in the Fillmore County East Office Building (the old medical clinic), 1320 G Street, Geneva, phone 402-759-3219, open Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (closed noon to 1), "with Nick in the Office every Thursday"; the rest of the week the office is kept by Shaundee Graham, whose Board title is Zoning Administrator/Veterans Service Assistant ($23.63 an hour for 2026-2027, set June 23, 2026). Fillmore County's filed 2025-2026 budget lists the agreement with York County as dating from August 2016, and its own Veterans Service Officer budget (0100-803) carries a $25,000.00 "VSO Interlocal Agreement" line - paid in 2023-2024 and adopted again for 2025-2026, while the 2024-2025 actual column shows nothing on that line and $25,449.00 under maintenance agreements - inside an office budget of $67,140.00 that also pays the assistant, the county's van drivers and van fuel (see the Fillmore County transportation entry) and $2,000 for grave markers and flags. The Fillmore Board re-appointed Mr. Wollenburg as its Veterans Services Officer for 2026 on January 12, 2026, named Supervisors Cerny and Graham its liaisons for Veterans Service on January 27, approved the Nebraska Department of Veterans' Affairs' memorandum of understanding for January 1, 2026 to December 31, 2028 on November 25, 2025, and on September 22, 2026 approved Tyler Technologies' VetraSpec memorandum for the office from February 21, 2027 to February 20, 2028. Fillmore County is outside every veterans treatment court on the Judicial Branch's list. The vehicle exemption. A county release of December 24, 2025 reported that, ahead of the State's motor vehicle tax exemption for disabled veterans taking effect January 2, 2026, the office had been "going through the active lists of veterans in York County so they will be recognized as exempt in the new year", and found many who had not visited in years; Mr. Wollenburg asked every veteran to call for a benefits review. The exemption is the State's (see the Nebraska entry). The Board's year. The Board approved the Nebraska Department of Veterans' Affairs' memorandum of understanding for the claims database on January 20, 2026. On August 4, 2026 it made Commissioner Andrew Bowman, the Board's veterans liaison, and Mrs. Coffey the signers on the "Veterans Checking account" at York State Bank, removing former Commissioner LeRoy Ott. It set the officer's salary at $61,131 from October 2026. For Operation Green Light the courthouse was lit green from November 4 to 11, 2025, a project of the officer and the maintenance director. The York Elks Lodge gave the office $1,000 of medical supplies - knee scooters, wheelchair seat pads and shower chairs - in October 2025, and County Public Transportation ran a Veterans Day trip to the Seward National Guard Museum on November 15, 2025 on which veterans rode free. The money. The filed 2025-2026 budget gives the office $131,352.00, against $116,590.48 spent in 2024-2025, including $3,000 for grave markers and a $2,000 "Veterans' Aid Costs" line (see the county aid entry).
