Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

Wythe County applies the statewide one-vehicle exemption - one motor vehicle owned and used primarily by or for a veteran rated 100% service-connected, permanent and total - through the Commissioner of the Revenue. The county's pages publish no separate vehicle-exemption form or rule, so the state entries govern and the office at 276-223-6015 or 276-223-6017 (personal property deputies) is the route. The 2026 tangible personal property rate is $2.22 per $100 - on the Budget page's 2026 tax-rate table (machinery and tools $1.50, merchants capital $0.56 alongside) and in the June 9, 2026 resolution, unchanged from 2025. The county's personal property vehicles fall under the same December 5 due date. The state's car-tax relief applies to the first $20,000 of a qualifying vehicle's value.
