Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The assessor’s Veteran Exemption Checklist, updated October 15, 2025 for the 2025 grand list, gives the wartime veterans’ exemption as $3,000 off assessment on a discharge filed with the Town Clerk before October 1, and the disabled veterans’ exemptions as $6,000 to $10,500 depending on the disability rating, with proof of the rating due by the March Board of Assessment Appeals session, filed once. The State Additional Veteran’s Exemption under C.G.S. 12-81g doubles the veteran or disabled veteran amount, to $6,000 to $21,000, for income within the state limits, which the checklist prints as $45,200 single and $55,100 married, or $18,000 and $21,000 of adjusted gross income for a veteran rated 100 percent; applications run February 1 to October 1 and refile every other year. The Town Additional Veteran’s Exemption under C.G.S. 12-81f is $20,000 off assessment for a total income, veterans’ disability payments excluded, of not more than $62,200 whether unmarried or married. OLR’s 2023 survey recorded Windsor at $11,000 with the bare state limits and also offering the 12-81f(b) and 12-81(21)(C) options; the checklist now shows $20,000. Ask the assessor. A veteran rated permanently and totally disabled at 100 percent files the state D-2 with proof annually by January 1 under 12-81(83), the checklist’s assessment calendar says, and an in-service member applies for the prior year’s motor vehicle exemption by December 31.

Figures

Each figure is dated with the day it was read. A local figure moves whenever the statute or the local ordinance does, so confirm it with the office that grants it before you rely on it. Statute verified gives the day the weekly section check last found the statute standing on the legislature’s own code site; a figure without it rests on a statute the check does not read yet.
