What the county's Transportation page says: "We provide Veterans Transportation to the VA Hospitals in Durham, Goldsboro and Greenville. Mondays and Tuesdays, we transport to Durham (morning appointments only). Wednesdays, we transport to Goldsboro (morning appointments only). ARRIVE Wilson County Transportation is "a fully coordinated public transportation system ... a branch of the Wilson County Government" that contracts its daily operations; it also serves DSS, the Office of Senior Citizens Affairs, Services for the Blind and the rural general public ($2.00 minimum each way for general-public rides). Director Lesley Barnes, 2201 Miller Rd. South, Wilson, NC 27893; 252-399-2817. The veterans route itself publishes no fare: the fare table names the rural general public only, so ask when booking. Rides are reserved 24 hours before the appointment, by 2:00 p.m. Friday for a Saturday or Monday trip. The Board's November 3, 2025 public hearing on the NCDOT Section 5311 administrative, combined capital and cost-of-contracting grant - presented by Barnes and approved by the Board - is the funding record behind the county system.
