Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

Williamson County Veteran Services offers one-time financial assistance from a grant from the Texas Veterans Commission's Fund for Veterans' Assistance. Who can apply. A veteran discharged honorable, general under honorable conditions, or other than honorable; a spouse (with the marriage certificate) or surviving spouse (with the death certificate) of such a veteran; or a dependent child under 23. The applicant must live in Williamson County or be unhoused. What it can pay, according to the application: - past-due rent, and sometimes a first month's rent or deposit; - a past-due mortgage payment; - past-due utilities in the applicant's name; - a veteran's funeral and burial costs, not receptions; - bus, train, ride-share or taxi fares for work, school and medical appointments; - fuel, necessary repairs, insurance and past-due loan payments for a vehicle, but not routine maintenance; - groceries, on the SNAP rules. How it works. Requests are judged case by case, first come, first served, and approval does not guarantee payment. Bring the DD-214, two months of bank statements and the bill, lease or statement; every vendor must supply a W-9. Requests and updates go by email only ([email protected]), and payment takes about 30 days after a complete application. Call 512-943-1900 to book.
