The grant. The Veterans Services page carries the Texas Veterans Commission's required notice: "This program is supported by a grant from the Texas Veterans Commission Fund for Veterans' Assistance. The Fund for Veterans' Assistance provides grants to organizations serving veterans and their families." On October 9, 2025 (item 9) the Commissioners Court unanimously approved "for the Veteran's Office to apply for the Texas Veterans Commission (TVC) General Assistance Grant FY 2026-2027", and its August 27, 2026 agenda (item 10) carries the acceptance of "the 2026-2027 (FVA) Funds for Veterans Assistance Grant Award", "Grant period is September 1, 2026 through August 31, 2027." The page's "General Assistance Grant" panel is empty, and the award letter is not posted; the Commission's grant pages answer a bot check, so the award amount and the grant's rules were not read. What the county budgets. The Budget Officer's proposal for 2026-2027 carries fund 17, "Texas Veterans' Commission Outreach", at $150,000 of intergovernmental revenue (the same as for 2025-2026; $135,791 came in for 2024-2025), "presented through September 30, 2027, as if grant is awarded for same amount next year". Its spending lines: $48,000 "Public Utility Services", $20,000 "Indigent Funerals", $17,229 "Veterans' Assistance", $8,410 miscellaneous, and $39,520 for "Deputies & Assistants" with its payroll costs, which matches the outreach specialist the page lists. In 2024-2025 the fund spent $39,666 on utilities, $19,996 on indigent funerals and $21,503 on veterans' assistance. How to ask. Call the Veterans Office, (956) 699-5019 or (956) 699-0365, or visit 190 N. 3rd Street, Room 157, Raymondville, to learn who qualifies and what the grant pays this year.
