Wilkes County Register of Deeds: Thank a Veteran Discount Card

The Register of Deeds records military discharges among its records (see the North Carolina entry on G.S. 47-113.2 for who may get copies). Its Thank a Veteran programme began on February 1, 2017: "To get started, a Veteran needs to bring their Military Discharge / DD214 form along with a valid photo identification for recording in our office. Veterans who already have their Military Discharge / DD214 forms recorded with the Wilkes County Register of Deeds need only bring a valid photo identification to receive a Veterans Discount Card. After we have confirmation of service, we will then take your picture and issue a card that you can present to participating businesses around the county." "The discount card will be at no charge to the Veteran". The office posts the list of participating businesses. What it is not. "It is not a valid photo identification for determining actual identity or residency. It is not issued by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs.
