Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

It is the duty of the County Veterans Officer to assist veterans and their dependents and survivors in filing claims for benefits through the Department of Veterans Affairs; the county lists disability compensation, death pension, burial benefits, VA medical care and veterans' education assistance among the claims. The office is at the White County Office Building, 411 N Spruce Street, Suite 101, Searcy 72143, phone 501-279-6210, fax 501-279-2774, [email protected], open Monday to Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., closed Friday. The county's page names the White County Veterans Service Officer as Douglas C. Gentry, and says he is accredited through Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) and the United Spinal Association, and is the only VVA-accredited representative in the state of Arkansas. The Department of Veterans Affairs' county service officer finder (last updated August 19, 2026) instead lists Amanda Pipkin as the county's officer with assistants Jerome George, Doug Gentry and Steven Cooper, at the same suite, phone and email, with hours of Monday and Tuesday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; the two official sources disagree on who holds the desk and on the days (the county's page, rechecked 2026-10-23, still names Gentry and Monday to Thursday), so call before relying on a name or a day. Before receiving accreditation through the Arkansas Department of Veterans Affairs, all county veterans service officers must complete a training course supervised by the Department. With the assistance of veterans service organizations and the White County Judge, the office conducts the Veterans Day and Memorial Day ceremonies each year.
