The discharge line. The County Clerk Fee Schedule (effective January 1, 2024), under Vital Statistics: "Military Records (DD-214) NO CHARGE". Local Government Code 192.002 makes the filing free and Government Code 603.003 the certified copy, and Government Code 552.140 keeps a discharge recorded on or after September 1, 2003 confidential, releasing it only to the veteran and the others it lists (see the Texas entry).
