Wethersfield’s exemptions page gives a $3,000 wartime exemption plus a $1,500 additional exemption, $9,000 to $15,750 by disability rating with half the state additional exemption, and a $7,000 local option under the state income limits.

For: Veteran or service member, survivor.

Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The assessor’s exemptions and tax credits page gives a veteran of 90 days of wartime active duty, on a DD-214 filed with the Town Clerk before October 1, “a $3,000 plus an additional $1,500 exemption” for the following July’s tax bill. A veteran with a VA rating on Form 20-5455a receives $9,000 for a 10 to 25 percent rating, $11,250 for 26 to 50 percent, $13,500 for 51 to 75 percent and $15,750 for 76 to 100 percent or age 65 with at least a 10 percent rating; the page describes half of each as the state additional exemption effective on the 1986 list. The statutory amounts are $1,000 and $2,000 to $3,500, so the page’s figures are those raised by the revaluation increases of 12-62g, though not on the ratio the higher tiers show. Veterans of low income qualify for an additional exemption of twice the regular exemption, the state program of 12-81g(a), for total income under $56,500 married or $46,300 single including a surviving spouse, applying February 1 to October 1; a veteran VA rates 100 percent disabled qualifies at $21,000 married or $18,000 single excluding Social Security. The page also prints a local option: “Local Option by Town of Wethersfield grants an additional $7,000 exemption to vets with an income level below $56,500 for a married couple, or $46,300 for a single” person, filed February 1 to October 1. That is the 12-81f additional exemption at the state limit. A parallel local option adds $2,000 for a blind claimant. No Wethersfield ordinance adopting either was found and the town did not answer OLR’s 2023 survey; ask the assessor.

Amounts above the base turn on rating and income. The rating filter does not hide this entry.

Figures

Each figure is dated with the day it was read. A local figure moves whenever the statute or the local ordinance does, so confirm it with the office that grants it before you rely on it. Statute verified gives the day the weekly section check last found the statute standing on the legislature’s own code site; a figure without it rests on a statute the check does not read yet.
