Westford Veterans’ Property Tax Exemptions (Clauses 22 to 22F)

Westford’s fiscal 2027 exemption sheet prints the veterans’ clauses as “varies: $845 up to full RE tax amount”, the statute raised by both years’ adjustments and doubled, what clauses 22I and 22J at 100 per cent produce.

Also called: property tax, clause 22, 22E, veterans exemption, assessors, Westford.

For: Veteran or service member, spouse, survivor.

Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The Town of Westford grants the veterans’ exemptions of G.L. c. 59, s. 5, clauses 22 to 22F, through its board of assessors. The statute sets them as dollars off the tax bill, $400 under clause 22, $750, $1,250 and $1,500 under 22A to 22C and $1,000 under 22E, and exempts the whole domicile under 22D and 22F; a town can add to them only by accepting a local option, clause 22I, clause 22J or section 5C½. Every figure on this entry carries its source and the day it was read. The Assessors’ FY2027 Real Estate Tax Exemption and Tax Deferral Programs sheet gives the veterans’ clauses a tax-dollar benefit of “VARIES: $845 UP TO FULL RE TAX AMOUNT”, and asks for an annual VA letter dated by July 1, 2026 or prior. The sheet names no clause behind the $845, and no town meeting vote was found in the town’s online records; $845 is the statute’s $400 raised by the fiscal 2026 and 2027 adjustments and doubled, what clauses 22I and 22J at 100 per cent produce, the range Boston’s and Quincy’s pages print, so ask the assessors to confirm the acceptance. Chapter 115 benefits, the Commonwealth’s needs-based help with rent, food, fuel and medical costs, are applied for through Westford Veterans Services: Colin Bode. Their amounts are set by the Commonwealth and are the same in every city and town; the statewide chapter 115 entry describes them.

GateRule
A VA rating, a decoration, or a surviving relativeClause 22 reaches a veteran rated 10 percent or more, a Purple Heart recipient, a Gold Star parent and the spouse or unmarried surviving spouse; 22A to 22E turn on named losses, decorations, a 100 percent rating or specially adapted housing. The rating filter does not hide this entry, because several routes need no rating.

Figures

Each figure is dated with the day it was read. A local figure moves whenever the statute or the local ordinance does, so confirm it with the office that grants it before you rely on it. Statute verified gives the day the weekly section check last found the statute standing on the legislature’s own code site; a figure without it rests on a statute the check does not read yet.
