West Brookfield Veterans’ Property Tax Exemptions (Clauses 22 to 22F)

West Brookfield’s assessors post no exemption amounts, its veterans’ application being the state’s own Form 96-4 and its guide the Division of Local Services’ generic booklet, so this entry gives the statute’s.

Also called: property tax, clause 22, 22E, veterans exemption, assessors, West Brookfield.

For: Veteran or service member, spouse, survivor.

Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The Town of West Brookfield grants the veterans’ exemptions of G.L. c. 59, s. 5, clauses 22 to 22F, through its board of assessors. The statute sets them as dollars off the tax bill, $400 under clause 22, $750, $1,250 and $1,500 under 22A to 22C and $1,000 under 22E, and exempts the whole domicile under 22D and 22F; a town can add to them only by accepting a local option, clause 22I, clause 22J or section 5C½. Every figure on this entry carries its source and the day it was read. The Assessors page names Gail P. Camara-Marks the chair, Renee Adams-White a member and administrative assistant to the board and Phil Landine a member, at Town Hall, 2 East Main Street (508-867-1421, extension 6 on the contact block, extension 304 in the office-hours block, Post Office Box 372), and covers valuation, cyclical inspection and tax rates without a personal-exemptions page or any clause amount of the town’s own, so the figures here are the statute’s. The applications the page posts are the state’s own forms - the veterans’ one is State Tax Form 96-4 - and its Taxpayers Guide to Local Property Tax Exemptions is the Division of Local Services’ generic booklet; no acceptance of clause 22I or 22J was found on the town’s site. The Veteran Services Officer page names Frank Bateman the Veteran Service Officer (413-949-6517, [email protected]) and describes the outreach, referrals, chapter 115 financial benefits and annuity claims the office assists with, where the EOVS directory’s September 7, 2026 row lists Michelle Durkee at the same Town Hall address, Post Office Box 766 (978-400-1938), with an e-mail address at templetonma.gov; ask the town to confirm who holds the office. Chapter 115 benefits, the Commonwealth’s needs-based help with rent, food, fuel and medical costs, are applied for through West Brookfield Veteran Services Officer: Frank Bateman. Their amounts are set by the Commonwealth and are the same in every city and town; the statewide chapter 115 entry describes them.

The rating filter does not hide this entry, because several routes need no rating.

Figures

Each figure is dated with the day it was read. A local figure moves whenever the statute or the local ordinance does, so confirm it with the office that grants it before you rely on it. Statute verified gives the day the weekly section check last found the statute standing on the legislature’s own code site; a figure without it rests on a statute the check does not read yet.
