Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

Mo. Rev. Stat. 59.480 makes the recording of a discharge free and limits who may see or copy it; see the Missouri entry. The Recorder's page: "We record and preserve land records, issue marriage license, record and issue copies of military discharge papers (DD214)." The page posts no request form; the Recorders Association of Missouri form that other Missouri recorders use (veteran's identifiers, the requester's authority, a notary's signature) is what the statute's rules call for. The office. Stacy Atkison, Recorder of Deeds, P.O. Box 546, 101 N. Crittenden, Room 16, Marshfield, MO 65706; 417-859-5882; deputy recorder Sarah Bodine. The office's land index is on iCounty (webstermo.icounty.com). The county's site answers a Cloudflare challenge to plain fetches, so the page was read through the Internet Archive's April 4, 2025 capture, the latest; its recording fees ($24 for the first page) predate the 2026 SB 938 rise, so ask the office for current fees on anything other than a discharge.
