Weber County Clerk/Auditor: Disabled Veteran Tax Relief
Weber County's Clerk/Auditor takes the State's disabled veteran tax relief - a VA disability rating of 10% or greater for the veteran, or for the unmarried surviving spouse or minor orphan child with the VA affidavit and letter - verified each year, filed by September 1, 2026, for up to $535,459 of taxable value; the county runs it through its applicant portal with annual verification.
Also called: property tax, veteran exemption, 59-2a-501, 59-2a-502, September 1, $535,459, Ogden, Clerk/Auditor, annual verification.
The exemption is State law, Utah Code 59-2a-501 and 59-2a-502 since the 2025 recodification; the Utah entry explains the amounts and the rating bands. In Weber County the Clerk/Auditor administers it.
What the county says. "DISABLED VETERAN TAX Relief ... Veteran with Disabilities: Be a veteran having a service-connected disability, or the unmarried surviving spouse or minor orphan child of a veteran who had a service-connected disability, or who died in the line of duty. An unmarried spouse or minor orphan must submit an affidavit and letter from the VA stating your relation to the veteran and the disability rating. Provide documentation from the VA showing a disability rating of 10% or greater. Must be a recorded owner of the property in 2026. If you lived in multiple counties, apply in the county you reside in as of September 1, 2026. Benefit: Up to $535,459 in taxable value of real and/or personal property is exempt from taxation. The amount of exemption varies based on the percentage of service-connected disability. Deadline to Apply: File an application with the County Clerk/Auditor no later than September 1, 2026."
The county's own twist. "All tax relief programs, except for the Disabled Veteran/Killed in Action exemption, require a new application be submitted every year to qualify. The Disabled Veteran exemption requires verification of information each year." The page's "DISABLED VETERAN ANNUAL VERIFICATION" button runs that verification through the county's applicant portal, which needs an account. The page lists no late-claim or extension process, so a veteran who misses September 1 asks the Clerk/Auditor and, if refused, reads 59-2a-502(3) - the county legislative body decides late claims - from the Utah entry before appealing to the county commission.
