The county's Discount Program page: "The Wayne County Office of Veterans Affairs in Honesdale issues cards to honorably discharged veterans of the U.S. Armed Services, who can use it to access savings on goods and services from a variety of businesses across the county." The programme began in 2011, and the office "works closely with the County Sheriff's Department to produce the ID cards". How to get one. "There is no charge to veterans to receive the card. Just stop by the Veterans Affairs Office ... with your DD214 Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m." The page still gives the old address (314 10th Street); the office is now at 926 Court Street (see the office entry). What it gets you. The posted list ("A Wayne County Veterans ID is required for the discount program") runs to about forty businesses in Honesdale, Hawley, Lake Ariel and Hamlin, from restaurants and jewellers to tyre and landscaping firms, mostly 10 percent off with each firm's own limits. The list is dated September 2018, so ask the office for the current one. Businesses that want to join ask the office for a merchant application.
