Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

Mo. Rev. Stat. 59.480 makes the recording of a discharge free and limits who may see or copy it; see the Missouri entry. The Recorder's fee schedule lists "Military Discharge" at "No Charge" (its "Federal tax Lien Discharge $7.50" line is a tax lien release, not a military discharge), and her formatting standards list "Military separation papers" among the documents exempt from the formatting rules, so no $25 non-standard fee applies. The online record search (SFFlexSuite, paid passes) is for land records; a discharge and its copies stay free under the statute, and copies go only to the veteran or an authorized party on the Recorders Association of Missouri's notarized request.
