Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

Code § 28-103, Ord. No. 01-02-07-274 of January 2, 2007, gives a veteran entitled under C.G.S. 12-81(19) an additional exemption of up to $6,000 off assessed value and a surviving spouse entitled under 12-81(22) up to $6,000, for income in a range it sets at $0 to $45,000 and directs the assessor to adjust annually to OPM’s criteria. The article’s application period is February 1 to May 15. The assessor’s veterans page prints a basic reduction of $4,500 for a veteran with a VA rating, and, for a veteran at least 65 or fully disabled through Social Security with income under the printed limits, additional state and local options, each at income limits of $45,200 single and $55,100 married, applied for in person February 1 through October 1 with proofs of all income. The local option is the § 28-103 additional exemption; the printed limits are the 12-81l amounts, which the 2026 grand list puts at $46,300 and $56,500. The page carries the D-2 application for the 12-81(83) dwelling exemption with OPM’s memo on the annual January 1 filing, and OLR’s 2024-R-0124. OLR’s 2023 survey recorded Watertown as offering the 12-81g(b) exemption, three times the 12-81(20) amount for a veteran rated 100 percent, the 12-81f(b) disability option and the 12-81h specially equipped vehicle exemption, besides the $6,000 wartime option the code shows.

Figures

Each figure is dated with the day it was read. A local figure moves whenever the statute or the local ordinance does, so confirm it with the office that grants it before you rely on it. Statute verified gives the day the weekly section check last found the statute standing on the legislature’s own code site; a figure without it rests on a statute the check does not read yet.
