Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

Washington County hosts the 1st Judicial District Recovery Court, a judicially-supervised docket that diverts justice-involved people with substance use disorders into treatment under the state recovery court model; the state's treatment court contacts list also names a Washington County Mental Health Court, both in Jonesborough. Tennessee lists no veterans treatment court for Washington County - the state's veterans tracks sit in Gibson, Knox, Blount, Montgomery, Shelby, Davidson, Hamilton, Williamson and other counties, not here. A justice-involved veteran asks the Recovery Court, the public defender or the Sessions Court judges what track is available; see the Tennessee entry on veterans treatment courts. Funding. The county's own budget funds the court: the general fund carries a Drug Court line (53330), and Resolution 26-01-09, on the Recovery Court Administrator's request, moved $50,000 from the county's Baby Doe Reserve Fund into that line for FY26 operations - the HEW Committee considered it on January 8, 2026 and the Budget Committee recommended it on January 14, 2026. The FY 2026-27 budget keeps the line, and the July 2026 budget resolutions add a Safe Baby Court implementation amendment (26-07-08).
