Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The court's page: "The Washington County Veterans Treatment Court program was established to provide alternative sentencing opportunities for justice-involved veterans, whose honorable military service/experience is somehow linked to their criminal conduct. The goal is to enhance public safety by stabilizing, habilitating and reintegrating healthier, law-abiding veterans back into our community. The program is a four or five phase (depending on assigned track) intervention program for qualified veterans that is complete at a minimum of 12-15 months. The program involves court appearances, community supervision, treatment programs and interventions for substance use, mental health, and other issues." How to ask. The court sends readers to the District Attorney's VTC page (washingtoncountyda.org/vtc) "for more information about the VTC Program, including program eligibility criteria, program structure, and the referral process"; a defence lawyer can raise the referral.
