Washington County's page: "Our mission is to assist Washington County Veterans and their families in obtaining the benefits that they have earned." Its advocacy page: "Our responsibility with the Washington County Veterans Agency is to the veteran and their family. We work as an advocate for them and have no ties to the Veterans Administration. Your Washington County Veterans Service Officers are accredited through various veteran organizations." What it does. Compensation and pension claims; enrolment in VA health care at the Glens Falls clinic; vocational rehabilitation and employment, independent living services and education and career counselling; burial and memorial benefits; and military records: "Any veteran, surviving spouse, child or sibling can request military records. You must provide proof of identity upon your request." The director told the Health and Human Services Committee on February 25, 2026 that disability and health care are the most common cases, that the agency serves about 4,000 veterans "of all eras", active duty, Guard and Reserve members, surviving spouses and dependants and VA-identified caregivers, and that its service officers "are all dually-accredited by both The American Legion & New York State Division of Veterans Services".
